SMB Music Support Tool
　　　　Version 12
*********************************************************************************************
☆About
　Thank you for downloading.
　This document is best read under the MS Gothic font.
*********************************************************************************************
☆Contents
　Music Support Tool Ver. 12 (The main program)
　Hspmidi.dll (Plugin. Without this file the tool would not run as it is required to playback notes.)
　tmp.smm (This will have the music data stored as the output. Leave it in the same folder directory.)
　readme.txt (What you're reading right now.)
*********************************************************************************************
☆New functions
　・Nothing in particular.
☆Correction
　・The note data of SQ1 was previously completely bugged.
*********************************************************************************************
☆Points to remember
・It is not a direct “hacking” tool but more of a “support” tool.
Please prepare a hex editor separately.
・For basic knowledge regarding music hacking in itself, please refer to w7n or Docokalaki's (obselete) music hacking guide.
(The original link for Docokalaki's files are gone, but it still can be found around; w7n's guide is more recommended)
This tool will assume you will have the basic knowledge of SMB music hacking.

　If you do understand the music format, the significance of this tool will ease up the process (maybe)
　It is written in an easy-to-understand way, so do your best to use it to its potential.
*********************************************************************************************
☆How to use
・At the upper right selection box, you can choose between Square 2/Triangle waves, Square 1 waves and percussion noises.
・Adjust and tune the pitches accordingly.
・The buttons are lined up- do think of it as a piano keyboard.
　The middle C note is indicated by the marking in red.

When a certain octave is selected, the notes at and above "Mid. C" will remain at that octave.
　~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The three notes to the left will specifiy an octave lower.
　~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

・The hex values of the specified notes will appear in the upper left input box.
Please leave it in until you're finished with that instrument layer.

・If you wish to store the hex output outside of the tool, it will be enclosed into the "tmp.smm" file.
　The data being generated will be the output.
　By opening and copying the file's contents and porting the data into desired ROM, the process this way will be (somewhat) easier.

・Explanation of the "Playback" function
　・If you want to listen to your inputted notes so far, press on "Playback", which then can be heard.
　・The music header speed can be specified by referring to the buttons on the lower right-hand side.
　・The default SMB note lengths will be loaded unless a file is specified under "Note Length".
　　If the header speeds are universally modified which may not be exact to the program, press on that button.
　・You can only listen to one instrument layer at a time.
　　So that means, if you wish to listen to chords within the program, please do it directly in an emulator. (You can't playback that directly!)
　・Oh, this program cannot read anything that's being inputted outside of 0~9 and A~F.
　　If you want to audition the data to include uppercase letters, please change them to lowercase.
　・During playback, the music input will cease to continue when you do other actions (press irrevelant buttons, closing the program).
　・It is assumed that the SMB frequency table has not been modified in prior to touching this tool.
　・"I can't listen to this!"
    Either the note is out of range E.G. Octave 2, or just transfer the file's contents to the NES ROM and emulate it.

*********************************************************************************************
☆Wishes
1) Please do not distribute this program without (Faisoft's) permission.
2) While using this tool, remember to make a backup of the NES ROM in case of mistakes and errors.
3) Place all of the .zip file's contents (except for this readme.txt, which is optional) into the same folder as the main tool itself, otherwise bugs and opening issues may appear.

*********************************************************************************************
